Spelling with Google Forms
This year in 4th grade I have started to give my students their weekly spelling and vocabulary tests using Google Forms. I really like using this method of testing. The main reason I love using it is that the program grades it for me. I then get the test back to the students a whole lot quicker. Parents like checking how their student did too. It doesn't get lost, if the student needs to help their student practice more, and parents know how to help their student.

This short film tells the story of a boy who meets and befriends a large cardboard box,
Went to the CUE conference March 2016 I listened to an awesome guest speaker, Lisa Highfill.
She shared a very interesting video and this would be great to have your class watch, stop and points, have them interpret, then reflect. Such a great video to watch. I highly recommend. The Adventures of a Cardboard Box

Common Sense Media is a must have resource for teachers as well as parents and grandparents. This is a site that is trustworthy for educating anyone who wants to keep their families educated and safe.
I love this site because if I am not certain if a media product, movie, or book is appropriate for my child I will look it up here first.
I like the recommendations on how to talk to your child after that "uncomfortable topic or portion of a movie comes up" and you are not too sure what to say to your child as they are asking you a million questions about what they just saw. I'm sure we have all been there before. This site even has that.
I also use the site to help me to educate myself and my children on how to navigate in our technology society safely. Tips will be one my next post.
